DOWNFALL OF NFL VIEWERS

kaepernickprotest

What’s happening with the NFL and the networks viewing?  If you haven’t heard or even been part of the latest trend; not watching NFL Sunday night football.  According to a headline story for the Sporting News, a third of NFL TV viewers are not watching in protest of the Colin Kaepernick-led protests.  Forbes sports writer, Mike Ozanian recently wrote, “the national anthem protests that began with San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and has since been copied by other players have angered many fans.  And that anger may be one reason why the television ratings for the first week of NFL games were bad.”

But what’s really going on?  Twitter recently procured the rights to live stream Thursday night NFL football and has seen not only their stocks soar because of it, but seen membership rise.  Which lends itself to all kinds of speculation. Is it the endless commercials on network television?  The player protests?  The game itself?  Time and the survey takers will tell the story at the end of the season.

How To Handle E-mail Overload: Well here’s a stark but brilliant solution from Tom Patterson, CEO “Tommy John” (undershirts for men).  When his e-mail box went from 150 or so a day to 300-400 as the company grew.  “There wasn’t enough minutes in the day to handle all of them.” His solution? Don’t answer them.  Instead Tom created an “auto response” that said “I am currently checking email before 9a.m. and after 5p.m. EST so there will be a delayed response.  If this is urgent please call or text.”  The result was remarkable: Tom was able to step back and “focus more on operations, strategy.. it allowed me to be more present and impactful,” he said.
