It’s National Doughnut Day! It is never too late to grab some sweet fried dough, filled or not, with a topping of your preference. Did you know there are actually two correct spellings for the word doughnut? According to the Grammarist website, “the dictionary approved spelling is doughnut, but the shortened donut has been around since the late 1800s but wasn’t popularized until the late 20th century when the successful American doughnut chain Dunkin’ Donuts made it ubiquitous”.
