Be Aware of Cell Phone Rights

On June 25, 2014 the Supreme Court passed a law that police could not search cell phones without a warrant. This was huge for digital privacy, and according to the nytimes.com, “while the decision will offer protection to the 12 million people arrested every year, many for minor crimes, its impact will most likely be much broader. The ruler will almost certainly also applies to searches of tablet and laptop computers”. This means if an officer asks to see / search your cell phone you can refuse, and make them get a warrant. If you are experiencing issues with this we recommend seeking legal representation so that your rights will be protected. Make sure you know your rights!
