French fries, not a French food, but most certainly an American favorite. French fries are actually claimed to be made in Belgium, and as the National Geographic website states, “it’s said that this dish was discovered by American soldiers in Belgium during World War I and, since the dominant language of southern Belgium is French, they dubbed the tasty potatoes ‘French fries’”. So, how do you like your fries, covered in ketchup, cheese, garlic, or maybe you just like a little salt on them? Do you prefer your crunchy, soggy, or something in between? Nowadays, you can really get those fried potatoes in so many ways, including changing out the regular potato for a sweet potato. However you might like to indulge just remember, they are not the best for us, so consume in moderation.
